Worry…anxiety…stress. It all takes a real toll on a person -- physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Ideally, this isn’t how God wants you to live. He has better plans for you; plans for hope and a future. Plans where your burdens are light and you are filled with peace and love. Even if all you can see is your anxiety right now, you can get where God wants you to be.
This growth plan outlines seven sure steps you can take to lean in towards God when anxiety attacks. The more you practice them, the easier it will be to overcome your anxiety and worry.
When you feel anxious, trust that God’s love can give you peace. Focus on His character and what you know about His love instead of focusing on your anxiety and worry.
When you find yourself trying to control your life, stop and take a deep breath in.
Stop letting anxiety destroy your health and thoughts. Remind yourself who God is and that He is much bigger than your anxiety.
Instead of trying to deal with your anxiety alone, turn to the Bible. Find the verses that remind you who God is and how much He cares for you.
Whenever you feel worry or anxiety coming up, whisper a prayer. It can be something as simple as, “Lord, I am feeling anxious; please fill me with peace instead.”
Giving up your burdens to the Lord will help you find true rest. A rest that is much more than a good night’s sleep; it is a rest that is filled with peace that passes understanding.
Turn to God when you feel anxious and you’ll find He has given you ways to deal with it through trusting Him, praying, reading Scripture, and laying down your burdens at His feet.
