The Hack:

Get your pen moving

I want to piggy-back off of the notion from our last Vibrant Life Hack. Let’s hone-in again on when we just feel blah or bland with it comes to our faith and daily interaction with the Lord. This often bleeds into a lack of awe and wonder of His Word and the life-giving daily bread offered to us as the Spirit moves while we read and pray. I want the Word to come alive for you! Keeping things simple though, the best way to stay engaged and enthralled with the Bible is to get your pen moving while you read it. After prayer asking the Spirit to enlighten and speak, grab your pen and journal and I will give you some easy tips to make your prayer time vibrant and meaningful.

These are starting points and by no means a formula!

~Sit quietly and invite the Lord to move in this space you created.

~Read your passage a couple of times. Might I suggest Colossians 3:1-4 for a good example?

~Write out a couple of key words or phrases that the Lord highlights as you read.

~Do you know the definition of those words or phrases off hand? If you promise not to go down a rabbit trail on your phone, go ahead and look them up online. Merriam Webster has a great site to quickly find definitions. Do these definitions speak to the context of the passage you are reading?

~Ask yourself these questions and journal it out:

What does this passage say about who God is?

Who is this word speaking to?

Does this Word teach say anything about who I am?

How does it lead me to a life of praise, worship, confession, relationship with the Father?

Sit quietly again and re-read the passage.

~How is the Lord moving in these words to apply them to your day? Journal that out, too!

Yes, Amen! The Word comes alive when we actively engage with it!
