What Will You Do with Your Worry?

Anxiety is one of the top medical problems in our society. For a Christian, anxiety can be a way that Satan might hold us back from living the life God wants for us. When you let your worries consume you, when you let anxiety rule your life, you spend your energy focusing on the worry instead of on who God is and how He can help you. Today, learn how to take your anxious moments and turn them into reliance on God.

Pray

Lord, help me learn to stop worrying and instead be content no matter what state I am in, for I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me.

Reflect

Do I let worry and anxiety consume me, or do I let it deepen my love for and reliance upon Jesus?

Respond

List all the things that are making you anxious; read them aloud, and then follow with the phrase, “…and I cast it all upon Jesus who already took it to the cross for me.”

Sometimes anxiety is self-imposed, and sometimes it is a lifestyle issue. Sometimes it is a medical issue. You can either choose to let it consume you or to let it deepen your dependence on Jesus. Choosing to let your anxiety and worry strengthen your relationship with God does not always come easily, though. You might need to learn to recognize how you can cast your cares on Him. The next post will look at some verses from the Bible that you can use to help you let go of your anxiety and learn to rely more on God in your times of trouble.
