If you bring your work home with you, either physically or mentally, you might be a workaholic. A workaholic is someone who can’t separate themselves from their work. Sometimes being a workaholic is an issue of bad time management, but more likely it is due to an issue of not being able to let go for a break. Whatever the reason, if you can’t separate yourself from your work, then you might be setting yourself up for a fall. Among other things, your health and your family could end up taking the hit for your obsession with work. This post explains how you can learn to let go of work and give your body and soul the rest it needs so you can achieve a better work/life balance.

Pray
God, You created the Sabbath so we would take time to rest and renew. Help me make the Sabbath holy in my life.
Reflect
Are you always distracted by your work or your to-do list?
Respond
Take one day each week to separate yourself from your task list and/or work. Rest. Play. Connect. Then note how much more productive you are during the week.
Sabbath is a principle of rest. Resting your body and resting your soul will help you learn how to balance labor and leisure, which leads to a more balanced life. The Sabbath gives you time to take a breath and clear your head. After you’ve rested, you will have the energy to revisit what is important to you and to set the kind of priorities that will help you achieve more balance throughout the week. Find some great ideas about how to set priorities in the next post.
