“…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

If I say it once I will say it a thousand times: Jesus is the rescue plan. His presence changes everything. 

Why do I say that over and over? I don’t know about you, but I need that constant reminder to never take the Gospel for granted. I also need the deep heart reminder that Jesus is the rescue plan when the world seems to be exploding. He is our plan A and the only option today, tomorrow, and forever.

Set in the Old Testament covenant, Israel walked that fine line as the holy and chosen people of God whose presence is untouchable. By the law set before them, Israel was reminded of sin which ultimately separated them from Creator-God…Yahweh…God Almighty…Father. We read in 2 Chronicles about the judgement God promised should Israel stray from True worship of God alone. And really, this idol stood as rejection of His perfect love. His righteousness and pure holiness…AND LOVE.

Full of wrath over the sickness of sin, God loved His people to the ultimate rescue plan: sending His son.

Jesus is the rescue plan. Period.

And before he went to the cross, we read descriptions of who Jesus claimed to be. These are life-giving declarations and in accepting these personhood, God-claims that Jesus made, we are led to a holy healing of the land. 

Jesus: Light of the World: Darkness has no place when the light and glory restores and points toward God and His goodness.  (John 8:12)

Jesus: Bread of Life: Jesus offers more than physical sustenance, He  sustains us spiritually and emotionally. Fear is not our story. God’s presence changes everything. Jesus changes everything. (John 6:35)

Jesus: The Resurrection and the Life: Death is not the final word for those who follow HIm.

(John 11:25) We live in life abundant because He conquered the sickness of sin and He brings us back to life-fulfilling fellowship with the Father.

Jesus: Way, Truth, Life: He is the truth fulfilled from the Old Testament claims and prophecies of the coming Messiah. Alpha and Omega, beginning and end. I AM, yesterday, today,  tomorrow. (John 14:1-14)

When we humble ourselves before God through desperation (because we know all is not right in our world!), the answer, the rescue plan, the only way is Jesus.

Then, empowered by His spirit, we have the divine invitation to partner with God to restore our city, state, nation, world. Taking His love into every square inch of our life, we join in on that rescue plan. We are not hopeless or helpless. Jesus changes everything.

~God, we need You in our city…

~Father, will You come and shine Your light over the very real darkness and uncertainty in our world…

~Show us how You alone our the rescue plan…

~Lord, teach me to live with anticipation of Your revival in my city…

~Let Your Spirit move in me and through me…
