Some would argue that if grace covers our sin, then our sin doesn’t really matter. This is an old, old argument that Paul addressed in the early church. If we think of God’s grace as permission to keep sinning, we are looking at grace with a worldly mindset. Yes, God’s grace covers our sin, but if we truly receive His grace and the forgiveness of our sin, we won’t want to keep sinning because in Christ, we are a new creation that has died to sin. This post will help you more clearly understand what the Bible says about this popular question of grace and sin.

Romans 6:1-2
Pray
Father, please help me see where I use Your grace to justify the sin in my life. Show me what I need to confess and repent. Then, help me live in the beautiful freedom of Your mercy and grace.
Reflect
Do I take advantage of God’s grace by thinking it’s okay to sin because He will forgive me?
Respond
Live as a new creation in Christ—die to sin and live in the freedom of God’s grace.
Under grace, you are a new creation. You have a heart that wants to follow Jesus, a heart that desires good. As a new creation, you can respond to God’s grace not by sinning more, but by extending His grace and love to help others. The next post explains how you can show the grace you have received from God to the people God puts in your life.
