When you have been single a long time, it can be challenging not to feel alone or lonely. It can be especially lonely if you are trying to live in your own strength instead of relying on God to be your fulfillment. When you allow God to be your focus in your time of singleness, you might end up finding what you really want when you aren’t looking. When you allow God to be your primary source of fulfillment, you are right where He wants you. This is where He will use you for His glory and bless you in the process. This post teaches the importance of living with purpose instead of desperation in this phase—and any other phase—of your life.

Pray
Jesus, help me remember to live well in the day-to-day. Help me do the right thing at the right time so I am right where You want me to be.
Reflect
Am I focused on what God wants me to do more than I am focused on what I want for my life?
Respond
Instead of focusing your life on finding the right person to share it with, focus on being complete in God and becoming the right person to be found.
Ruth was more focused on what God wanted her to do than she was on finding a new husband after her first husband died. When you focus on what God wants you to do, He will bless you. When you obsess about being single, you stop trusting in God’s plan for you. As you’ll find out in the next post, it is possible to live alone but not be lonely when your trust is fully in God.
