Some singles not only have longings for sexual intimacy, but they also have other deep unfulfilled longings. Some desire to be married and have been waiting a long time for a spouse. Other single people long for the intimacy of close friendships, which are sometimes hard to foster. There is nothing wrong with longing for someone to feel close to, unless it consumes you and you sin in trying to meet that longing for yourself. In this post, you may learn that although life can be hard, and no matter where you are in your journey, God has a plan for you, and He will fulfill it in His timing.

Pray
Jesus, I know You have a plan for me, and it is a good plan. Help me to accept where I am right now and to embrace the work You have for me today. I will trust You to be the fulfillment of any longings I have.
Reflect
Am I so caught up in wanting something different in my life that I am sinning by trying to meet that longing?
Respond
Take a look at where your focus is. If you are focusing on what is unfulfilled, try to change your focus to what God has given you instead of what has been withheld.
It is a gift to be in a season of singleness. You have the unique ability to serve the Lord with undivided devotion. You also have responsibility as a single person—the responsibility to accept where you are and to let Jesus fulfill the longings inside. Anything that makes you realize how much you need God is something that will bring you closer to Him. The next post continues to explore this thought with some bits of wisdom to help you look for the specific ways that God is drawing you closer to Himself.
