Keeping Sane in This Season of Singleness
God Is Your Partner

Life is not all about being married or single. It is not all about finding the perfect one for you or waiting to see what your future holds. There is so much more to your life than the question of your singleness. This season is a time where God can mold you, teach you, and use you to help further His Kingdom. You are free to serve, you are available for His purpose, and you have the time to be involved in sharing His love with the world. This post will help you stop spending your days pining for what you wish you had and instead embrace this unique opportunity to be in partnership with God.

"How God Uses Singleness for His Glory" by Dr. Jack Graham

I think that in view of the present distress it is good for a person to remain as he is. Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be free. Are you free from a wife? Do not seek a wife. But if you do marry, you have not sinned, and if a betrothed woman marries, she has not sinned. Yet those who marry will have worldly troubles, and I would spare you that (1 Corinthians 7:26-28).

I’ve noticed that in the church today, single adults are some of the most heavily involved in all spheres of ministry. Yet many times, they can feel like they’re operating as satellites because it looks to them like their church only focuses on married adults and families.

You may be surprised to know that some of the greatest Christians who’ve ever lived have been single adults… including Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul. And in more modern times, I think of David Brainard, the great missionary to Native Americans. I think of Lottie Moon who served faithfully as a missionary to China. I could go on and on!

One of the main advantages of being a single Christian is that you’re better able give yourself unreservedly, completely, and totally to the service of Jesus Christ. Now, don’t get me wrong, married people can serve faithfully as well. And I myself love being married. Yet, marriage is an obligation that will limit the time you are able to spend sharing Christ with others.

So if you’re single, use this time now to make the biggest impact you can for God’s Kingdom. Enjoy how God uses you as a single adult to show His love to others because you are in a unique place to minister to others where married adults could not!

Single adults are in a unique position to make a powerful impact for Christ. So if you’re single, enjoy letting God use you to make a distinctive impact!

Pray
Jesus, forgive me for the times I’ve put my desires before Yours and for any time I’ve wasted because I wasn’t focused on You. I dedicate myself to You for this season of singleness so I can be involved in Your Kingdom work.

Reflect
Do I see my singleness as a burden, or as a gift from God to join Him in His work?

Respond
Live this season of your life dedicated to what God has planned for you to bring about His glory and His Kingdom.

As you dedicate yourself to serving God and living in His will, you will find many places where He wants you to do His work. You will start finding joy and fulfillment right where you are. You will begin to see your singleness as a special time, a gift from God to help you find your own unique purpose in Him. The next post will help you embrace each day so you can get the most out of your life today.
