Scripture: Philippians 2:1-8
Meditation:
Redeeming cross-cultural relationships can seem like an overwhelming task. The content on news outlets and social media can lead us to believe that the problem is just too complicated to solve. But if we put down our phones and open the Bible, we see that the Lord has laid out a plan that we can enact today, right where we are planted.
“In your relationships with one another, have the same attitude as Christ Jesus … ”
Transforming a sinner into the likeness of Christ is no easy task, but the Holy Spirit is more than capable. As our sanctification grows, the more our pride must die, making room for us to love others as Christ has loved us. At the heart of this love is humility, sacrifice, and a desire to value others more than yourself.
As we seek to love others the way that Christ has loved us, anti-racism will be a part of the overflow. This type of humility goes against our natural self-interest and requires spiritual diligence and commitment. But the result — a Church that is defined by one love, one spirit and one mind — is God’s answer to dismantling the stronghold of racism today.
How can an attitude of humility enable you to identify racism in yourself today?
Pray: Lord, show me where pride and selfishness has blinded me from seeing and serving others. Forgive me and show me how to serve and love like You. Amen.
