One of the beautiful things about the election process in our country is that it is a renewal of our democracy. Whether in the peaceful transfer of power or in the reelection of the incumbent, every four years somebody is placing a left hand on the Bible, raising their right hand and taking an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Even after 244 years, our country still remains young compared to many of the countries in the world. But it still requires renewed commitment.
It is in that spirit that we recommend to your hearing "The New Country," by Amanda Lindsey Cook. While admittedly not a political anthem of any kind, there's something about it that all of us can relate to as citizens of the Kingdom of God. That's the new country that we're all looking forward to, even as the old country tries to pull us back.

Pray
Father, we thank You for a country that gives us the right to have our voices heard. Help us to be good citizens, to show forth what it means to be citizens of an even greater country than this. Let us be faithful in this small country, that we can be faithful in your Kingdom. In Jesus' Name.
Reflect
How is God calling you to be a good citizen in the "new country?"
