The New Country
Don't Bury Your Vote

Jesus once told a parable about three men given talents. To one man, his master gave five talents. To another, the master gave two. To a third man, the master gave one talent. All were told to manage that talent.

After a long period, each man was called to account for what he did with the talents. The man given five had produced five more. The man given two had produced two more. But the man given one buried his in the ground, fearing he'd blow it. While the first two men were commended, the third was rebuked and punished.

Voting-age citizens of this country are imbued with a great responsibility. The power to cast a ballot makes this country different from many. Elected officials are beholden to "we, the people."

Today, learn how important it is to participate in the process and know that you can make a difference, even if you think it's only one-talent big.

"The Power of the Vote" by Life Today

Pray

Lord, You have entrusted us with the responsibility to represent Your kingdom with honor, so that people will praise Your Name. Help us not to be slack in that duty, but to bring You glory by our actions. To do something as simple as voting if we can. In Jesus' Name.

Reflect

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." — 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Respond

The Bible says to whom much is given, much is required. If you've been given a chance to make your voice heard by casting a ballot, take that responsibility seriously.

In our next post, Blackaby Ministries share insight on how the way we interact politically as Christians might speak volumes about our commitment to make a difference.
