Using only the spoken words of Jesus Christ, the purpose of this study is to offer a greater understanding of the central figure of Christianity (and in all of human history). It will also demonstrate the significance of His message by illuminating the context and amplifying its meaning from a layman’s perspective.
Rather than hard-to-understand theological jargon, you will find a simple and organized review of the words of Jesus so that you can better understand Him, His message, His purpose on earth, and why His words are of importance to everyone.
In that regard, perhaps this study will create an interest in Jesus that will lead to further study. As C.S. Lewis so succinctly notes, “Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and, if true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.”
Jesus leaves us with only three choices. He is either a lunatic, a liar or, if he is telling the truth, the Lord Himself.
Through Jesus, we have the opportunity to join Him in heaven for eternity. By heeding His call to turn from dependence on ourselves to entrusting ourselves to Him, we too can find eternal life.
Jesus clearly states His deity; that He was sent to earth to give us guidance, hope, and protection; and that through Him we will find salvation—that is, eternal life with God in heaven.
It defies statistical probability that anyone could more accurately fulfill Biblical prophecies than Jesus.
Without forgiving others, we allow a past transgression of another person to control our current and future thoughts.
As we become more Christlike in our daily walk, we should be mindful that it is all too easy to revert to the “ways of the world.”
When God defines us as part of his family, we are secure enough to love and serve others.
The resurrection of Jesus is the central historical event in the Christian faith.
We may think that being a “good person” is adequate for our salvation but that fails to use the right measuring stick—comparing ourselves to other people instead of God’s perfect standard, which only Jesus attains.
Many find Jesus in His Own Words, A Layman’s Perspective a very accessible manual, organized in a constructive manner. In completing this study, you have read less than 20% of the published manuscript.
