Being Blessed
The Virtue of Domesticity

The world often tells us that we shouldn’t raise our children with traditional, godly values. The world wants us to be competitive and busy. But God wants you to focus on making a home filled with love for Him, for your husband, and for your children.

Today’s post will take a look at the lives of two womenone who tried to run a home with a worldly view, and another who serves as an example of a godly woman. Learn what can happen when you lose sight of how God wants you to run your home.

RE 2 - Better than Perfect Edit

00:00

Pray

Father, don’t let me lose my focus on You and my job in the home; help me to do my work as service to You alone.

Reflect

Am I building my mothering style based on what the world says, or am I focused on what God says I’m supposed to be and do?

Respond

Take back your responsibility of the management of your home and your children. Do your work today with a glad and surrendered heart as an act of service and worship to God.

The Wrap Up

Some of the jobs of motherhood are not fun, and you don’t always have to love what you do. Mothering is work, after all. Sometimes you just need to do the work and be faithful to what God has called you to do. When you focus on God and do the work as an act of worship, it is no longer work. It becomes service—service to God and to your family. Your kids might not notice that you cleaned the toilets today, and they might not say anything when you put a special treat in their lunch bag, but that’s okay. God notices. In the next post, you will learn how much those little acts of service mean to your family and what a big difference they make in the lives of your children.
