Amidst the daily tasks of raising children, it is sometimes hard to feel like you can survive—much less thrive—as a mom. When your children keep you up at night and wear you down during the day, maintaining your perspective is not always easy. When you step on a stray Lego with your bare foot, you might forget that God has given you a beautiful gift. You might not realize—as your kids are throwing a full-out fit at the grocery store—that they are a miracle and a blessing. Today’s post will help you take a step out of the daily chaos of motherhood and look at your children through God’s perspective—so that you can learn to delight in them and find joy in this challenging and fulfilling calling of motherhood.
RE 3 - Delighting in Your Children Edit
Lord, help me find joy in this job of mothering. Give me delight for my children—the same delight that You have for me.
Am I patient and loving with my children? How can I show them today that they are special to me and to God?
Make a point to tell your children how special they are at least once every day. Say something like, “Son, do you know what I like best about you…?”
Your children are very special to God, and He has given them to you as a precious gift. He has entrusted them to your care—not as a chore, but rather as a huge privilege. Today, you learned about cherishing and delighting in your kids. Next time, you will look at the only way you can find peace in the chaos of motherhood—by stealing little moments with God so you can feed your spirit and thrive as a mom.
