As you begin to repair your self-image, realize that not only do you need to have comfort in your identity in Christ, but you also need to heal the wounds that got you to this place. Often, words that are spoken—from others to you and from you to yourself—can open emotional doors that deflate your self-esteem. There are three key negative statements that most people battle with: you don’t fit in; you’re not good enough, and you’re not worthy. This post can help you deal with those negative thoughts to help you heal your wounded self-esteem.

Help me see where I’ve left doors open so I can heal the wounds that have damaged my self-esteem.
Reflect
Which of the three key negative statements is the one I most often battle?
Respond
Acknowledge where you’ve let your hurts fester and work on healing those wounds.

You feel unworthy, like you’re not good enough or that you don’t fit in. This is when you need to focus on finding your confidence in your identity in Christ. Stand firm in who you are and in whose you are. This will put you on the right track to healing those old wounds and developing a healthy self-image.
