Today’s reading: Psalm 77:19-20
As Moses lifted his rod over the raging waters, the people watched in awe and wonder as God intervened in their situation. The Bible says:
“The Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night…” (Exodus 14:21-22 NKJV)
All night the wind blew, dividing the waters, drying the seabed and revealing a pathway for the Israelites to walk on. It was more of a revelation than a creation.
Psalm 77 describes the moment, “Your way was in the sea. Your path in the great waters and your footsteps were not known. You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.”
The way was there all along. It was only waiting for an act of faith to reveal it. All that was left for Moses and the Israelites to do was move forward. Step out.
Can you imagine the moment? It had to have been both an awesome and terrifying experience to walk between the towering walls of water.
The same is true for you, as you take action and your Red Sea parts before you. What God has called you to may not be safe and easy. But you’ve got to believe this is his way, his path marked out for you.
As God reveals your next step, be brave and move forward, step by step. The path itself may be terrifying, but on the other side is a promised land.
