Building Bridges

Does our culture make it too hard to share Jesus? Must we change the way we share the Gospel in this day and age? Maybe. Perhaps the stories we use will change, and the words we use may be different, but evangelism still works the way it did when Jesus walked this earth. It is about having a burden to share the love of Jesus and having someone with which to share it. It is about finding a way to connect with what is important to someone else and sharing the story of how Jesus has changed you. It’s about offering that hope to someone else while trusting God with the results. This post explores how Paul did that in Acts and how we can use his model to share Jesus—even in our modern culture.

Read

Acts 17:23

Pray

Jesus, help me be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and share Your Gospel in a way that respects others, reveals sin, and explains the way of salvation. Help me to be bold and courageous about sharing Your love.

Reflect

Am I letting my fear of political correctness or other cultural stigmas stop me from sharing the Gospel?

Respond

Apply the steps of this post: Develop a burden to share, go where the people are, arouse the interest of the listener, build a bridge with your audience (instead of trying to prove there is a God), share the Gospel, and trust God for the results.

The Wrap Up

Use and practice the tools you learned in this post to help you build a bridge to the people God has put on your path. Then you can open up and reach the lost around you more easily. The more you practice, the more you will find it gets easier to have conversations about God. The next post teaches us how to find ways to have life-changing evangelical interactions with people through relationships and casual conversations.
