Some years ago I met Prince Charles. Our conversation must have lasted less than two minutes, and yet decades later I can still remember some details. My encounter with royalty was memorable, but your encounter with the highest royal, Jesus Christ, can be life-changing. May Jesus himself transform your life.
Jesus was often among crowds but he also spent time with many individuals. In this selection, I have chosen seven personal encounters Jesus had with a whole range of people: children, women, men, parents, teachers, leaders.
He challenged, inspired and met the deepest needs of people who were busy, people who were ill, people who were rich, and people whose lives were messed up.
I invite you to meet Jesus today as you read, and respond to, these encounters with Jesus.
The readings come from Word Come Alive, a new translation (paraphrase) of the New Testament by Bible editor Martin Manser. Text in italics shows the explanations I have added to the original text.

What would your reaction be if Jesus told you "you have to be born again"?
There is nothing we can hide from God, and even He wants to talk to you about it.
What do you have in your hands that can be used by God to bless others?
Pretending to have a faith that we do not have can make us depend on ourselves rather than on God himself.
The burden and pace of what we do can make us confuse between what is important and what is urgent.
Is there something in your life that you cling to and trust more than God Himself?
Our desire to have an encounter with Jesus, overcoming any barrier, generates a superior reaction from him in our favor.
