The true heart of worship is remembering how much grace, unmerited favor, and forgiveness God has given us. It is remembering that we have a tendency to be sinful and then being grateful that God loves us and wants a relationship with us. You can only truly understand how much God’s grace means through honest worship. When you worship, focus on the grace of God and think about His love. Forget about yourself and concentrate on Him. When you come to God just as you are—bringing Him your burdens and laying them at His feet, as well as praising Him for His goodness—you can experience deeper intimacy with Him. This is the grace of worship, and it can be yours.
"The Grace of Worship" by Jeff Schreve
Psalm 95:6
Lord, You have shown me such favor and love. This is grace which I do not deserve because of my sin, but You have taken that sin away through Jesus and washed me as white as snow. How can I do anything but praise and worship You for what You have done?
Do I focus on God in my worship or on myself?
Experience the grace of worship by worshiping God in Spirit and in truth. Worship authentically and remember God’s greatness, His love, and His great mercy.
Worship is a natural outpouring of our gratitude to God for the immense love and grace He so willingly shows us. When we focus on God instead of ourselves, and remember who He is and what He has done, the only response we can honestly have is to let our worship and praise swell in our hearts and explode into joy and gratitude as we express it to Him. We can worship whenever and wherever we want, whenever we are moved to ascribe God’s worth back to Him. When we worship, alone or corporately, we draw nearer to God and understand His love for us in a deeper way. This causes us to worship even more until our lives are permeated with the recognition and praise that God so righteously deserves. Continue a daily practice of praise and growing in your relationship with God through true, authentic worship.
