Have you ever been so discouraged, been in such a state of devastation, that you couldn’t even cry anymore? Has it seemed like you’ve lost everything? If so, then you can probably relate to the story of Job in the Bible. He lost everything he had except his own life. He went from praising God to feeling very discouraged. He railed at God, telling Him how unfair life was. All the while, God was there, confident that Job would still remain faithful. As Jonathan Falwell explains in this message, God is still with us—even when everything has fallen apart.
"Hope When You're Hurting" by Jonathan Falwell
Read
Job 42:1-2
Pray
Lord, it feels like I have lost everything. I am discouraged and beaten down, but I know You are still in control. I have faith that You are still here, and You will restore my life.
Reflect
What am I depending on if I am not depending on Jesus to get me through this?
Respond
Turn to Scripture to train yourself to trust only in God during your difficult and discouraging times.
Job sat for seven days in his grief. He was so devastated that for a long time he couldn’t even talk. When he could finally speak, he wondered where God was in his pain. We don’t always understand why we are going through a trial or difficult time, and we, like Job, wonder where God is. Sometimes, it even seems like God is late and keeps us waiting for His help—in fact, hear from Andy Stanley as he addresses just that in the next post.
