The language we use to communicate to those we love is important. Our words can mend fences, or they can tear down an already fragile foundation. The Bible has a lot to say about how we should use our words; we are admonished to use them for good. We are to build each other up through encouragement and affirmation. We are to impart forgiveness and grace rather than anger and wrath. Ultimately, we are to honor God with everything we say. Our words matter—and today’s message explains why.
"Words Matter" by Jonathan Falwell
Pray
God, I understand now how powerful my words are. I repent of the times I have used words to hurt or tear down those I love. Help me to use words that are filled with your love, forgiveness, and grace.
Reflect
Do I honor God with everything I say?
Respond
Make your words inspirational and full of encouragement. Think about who you can inspire today, then share an encouraging word.
Communication is a two-way street, but conflict resolution should start with you. Examine your heart to determine if you are honoring God with everything you say and do. When you put God first, you might find it easier to resolve your conflicts with other people—especially those closest to you. As we conclude this series, our next post offers some great tips on how to manage the current conflicts in your life—and to surrender future ones to the will of God.
