Generosity is a Response

Parents do a lot of things for their kids and don’t ever expect gratitude. But if we never teach them to practice gratitude they will be discontent, unhappy and basically monsters. With God’s children it works the same. If we take and take, and never express our thankfulness, we are going to be spiritual brats. It is a privilege to be a partner with God in his work; and when you are generous with your time and assets, you are showing faith that God is going to take care of you. This post asks you to think about God’s example of generosity and to let go of whatever is holding you back from being generous to those in need.

"Grace Giving" by Dr. Michael Youssef

Read
2 Corinthians 9:11

Pray
God, You have given me so much! A place to live, a job, food in my pantry, friends and family to share it with. I thank You for the privilege of partnering with You in Your work. Help me let go of anything I might be holding back so I can be joyfully generous.

Reflect
Do I act like a spiritual brat, or am I partnering with God in generosity?

Respond
Begin by being grateful for what you have, whether it is a lot or a little. Then commit to being generous as often as God gives you the opportunity.

We don’t want to be ungrateful children. Yet when we take and take from God, without giving to others in return, we are acting like “spiritual brats”. Instead of being selfish, be willing to follow God’s example of generosity. And then, be willing to give even more -- like the next post will challenge you to do.
