Nobody ever starts out their day intending to become addicted to something. We never intentionally plan on it, but we often open the door to addiction when we let something become more important to us than our relationship with God.
If you find yourself needing a drink, or a hit, or your phone, or pornography, or anything, more than you need God, it’s time to admit your addiction. You have to face it or you will never be free from it.
This post will give you some definitive steps to start dealing with your addiction, and a powerful personal story that will help you realize you aren’t alone.

Read
Galatians 5:1
Pray
God, I need to be free from this addiction. Help me take the steps necessary to deal with and overcome my addiction.
Reflect
How does it make me feel to know I’m not alone in overcoming addiction?
Respond
List the next three steps you will take to be free from your addiction…and then take them.
There is nothing in your life that you need more than you need God. He wants you to be free from your addiction, but it is going to take some work on your part. You need to go through the steps to acknowledge and break free from your addiction as outlined in this post, knowing that God is there to support you and give you the strength to overcome. Remember as you do this hard work to come to God in worship often to remind yourself that He is on your side. The next post will help you with that worship.
