One of the biggest challenges to maintaining integrity is the erosion of willpower. In the heat of the moment, in the midst of a temptation, it’s hard to say, “Here is where I will stop.” You won’t be able to stop because the passions of the body take over the mind. The only way you can make sure you are always living with integrity is to set limits for yourself before you are in a situation where your willpower will be challenged. When you set limits for your behavior, especially in areas that are hard for you, God will use those limits to protect you and direct you, as this post explains.

Proverbs 11:3
Pray
God, everything You want for me and everything You expect from me is good. Show me where I need to set boundaries so I can guard my integrity in all things.
Reflect
Do I test my own limits, or do I set (and hold to) boundaries to guard my integrity?
Respond
Set up some guardrails in your life. Determine your limits on your behaviors before you come into a situation where you will need to rely on your willpower to fight against temptations.
God will use your guardrails to protect you and direct you. Make up your mind about what you will do before you get into a hard situation; know what is important to you and how far you will go. Having such guardrails in place is critical to maintaining your integrity. You don’t want to put yourself in a situation where you would have to compromise. Instead, you want to practice an unwavering commitment to what is right, no matter what. Find out how you can do this in the next post.
