Think back to your days as a boy ... how do you remember your father? Are these good memories or memories you would rather forget? The fact is, you will leave a legacy for your children as their dad, and that legacy will either be something your children will remember fondly or wish they could forget.
There is a tool at your disposal to ensure that you are doing all you can to leave a highly impactful and positive impression on your children. Today, hear how a father’s faith makes an eternal difference for his kids.
"The Influence of a Father’s Faith" by Nancy Leigh DeMoss
God, I recognize that following Your wisdom and direction is the only way I can be successful as a dad. As a result, help me make the time each day to connect with You.
Am I spending time each day in prayer and studying the Word? What do I need to do differently to make sure I make time for God daily?
Set aside time to be with God every day. Start simple by getting up 10 minutes earlier in the morning to spend that time with God as you have your morning coffee, and keep it distraction-free.
Your faith and the time you spend with God will make a huge difference in the lives of your kids -- not to mention the impact it will have on your life and your marriage. You need to recharge every day to have the strength to lead your family, and only God can give it to you. When you get your strength from God, you are modeling a godly life and helping your children learn how to set godly priorities. You will also get what you need to be a strong dad. The next post will look more deeply into this concept of being a strong dad in a world that has different priorities.
