It’s a high calling to be a father. It’s an even higher calling to be a dad who balances discipline, example setting, and fun so he can raise children who are happy, stable, and who love the Lord.
Being a dad certainly isn't a job for the faint of heart. And it is not a job you can do on your own. You must seek God to be the kind of father He wants you to be for your kids -- a father who is a spiritual leader. Today’s post will help you understand why it is so important to be the spiritual leader of your family.
RE 2 - BGF Pt 03 TE 0710 Leading The Way Edit
Father, You have given me a holy calling to be a dad -- a link to, and an example of Your love. Show me the opportunities You give me each day to be a spiritual leader, and help me to act on them.
Do I show my children how to love, serve, and honor God?
Look for moments every day where you can show your children -- through your actions and your words -- what it means to be a child of God.
There are many characteristics of a good father: Being present, hanging out, setting the example of how to behave and how to deal with people—and that’s just to name a few. Through your example, your kids will learn how to manage anger, how to love a spouse, how to overcome challenges, and how to love God. Without you, dad, your children will learn these things from the world. Instead, God wants you to be the one to teach them. That’s why He has set you up as the spiritual leader of your family. It’s time to take back that role, embrace that responsibility, and with the daily help of God, become the father He wants you to be. God will bless you and your children when you do.
