The Scriptures tell us to "seek justice" (Isaiah 1:17), and to "do justice" (Micah 6:8), but how do we live that out in a world where we're surrounded by injustice?
We start with what biblical justice means — to do right in God's sight. That last caveat is all-important — the book of Judges ends with the sad proclamation that "every man did that which was right in his own eyes," (Judges 21:25) and we see over and over what that meant for the children of Israel. They kept missing the mark, which is the definition of sin.
Jesus calls on His followers to be salt and light in the world, and part of that means living in a way that stands in stark contrast to the injustices that we wade through every day. How we put justice into action, then, is paramount to a successful walk with the Lord.
If we really want justice, we must consider its Source.
Now that we know where justice originates, what are we going to do about it?
We may not be able to bring justice to the whole world, but we can bring it to the corner where we're held responsible.
If we sow justly with our neighbors, we'll reap righteousness and faithfulness in return.
We need not fret that God has vanished. He has the ultimate answer for us in the Person of Jesus Christ.
