Read: Psalm 124:1-8
In Psalm 124, David beautifully describes God rescuing his men in battle. David leaves no doubt God is the reason they “escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare.”
David was a mighty warrior and king. He had many personal and team victories where he could have easily taken the glory for himself. But the Bible calls David “a man after my own heart” (Acts 13:22). David knew he and his men would have died without God. He knew where the credit belonged, but do we?
How often do we lose sight of where our success, our blessings, and our salvation come from? How often do we trust in our talents, our achievements or our good works to give us value? As we focus on Jesus coming to us, let’s remember He is our rescuer. He is the only reason we escape the chains of sin or temptation. Jesus is the reason we have food to eat and water to drink. He is the reason we see loved ones come to know Him as their savior.
Psalm 124:8 says, “Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Let’s thank Jesus every day that He rescues and brings joy to life.
