Hope Came to Us

Read: John 1:18 & John 10:30 & John 14:7 & Colossians 1:15

John 1:18 says, “No one has ever seen God.” On the surface, this news is terribly disconcerting. In these perilous times of pain, suffering and death, the absence of God should cause anxiety, fear and hopeless. I’m so glad that the verse doesn’t end there. The verse goes on to say, “But God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.”

In this world, fractured by sin, God has revealed Himself to us by sending His very own Son into the world. God has not sat at a distance; rather, He has engaged us personally. He has rolled up His sleeves and done the hard work. God is known to us.

“I and the Father are one.” John 10:30
“If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well.” John 14:7
“Jesus is the image of the invisible God.” Colossians 1:15

We no longer have to wait, Hope came to us. Born of a virgin in Bethlehem, “the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” God engaged us as a Brother, as a Friend, as a Healer, as a Savior. All that is wrong in the world because of sin has been made right through Jesus Christ.

Hope is here. How will you respond?
