Hindrances

Read: Genesis 26:17-27:46 & Matthew 9:1-17 & Psalm 10:16-18 & Proverbs 3:9-10

Have you ever doubted? Have you ever looked at a situation and deemed it impossible? Have you ever acted a certain way because you were concerned with what others might say about you?

All of these concerns can be deemed hindrances—things that keep us from living a victorious life in Christ. Like a weight that keeps us from swimming effectively in the sea, certain things can hold us back from God’s best for us. Throughout the Bible, Jesus and others threw off these hindrances and discovered amazing blessing as a result.

The bleeding woman casted doubt aside, knowing that if she touched Jesus’s cloak she’d be healed. Disbelief was unheeded by the centurion who was convinced that just Jesus’s spoken word would revive his ailing servant. These people’s faith in Jesus and His abilities to heal superseded any doubt that might have kept them from seeing the truth.

Jesus continually cast aside concern about others’ opinions. Day after day, he preformed miracles in front of crowds. But the Pharisees and other naysayers still thought it right to condemn his actions. Jesus did not let the opinions of others govern what He deemed necessary and important.
