“Help, Lord, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men” (Psalm 12:1).
Do you ever feel isolated from other Christians? Are your only interactions with fellow believers on Sundays at church? We were never meant to do life alone.
God doesn’t just bring people into relationship with Him. He brings us into relationship with each other. The church was created to spread the gospel, but also to be a place where believers find encouragement, hope and assistance. In 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Paul, one of the early church leaders, tells one of the churches he planted, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
We are foolish to think we can grow in our relationship with Christ while shunning our relationships with other believers. From the television to the radio to the inside of the bathroom stall, we are bombarded with messages about what gives us value. Without Godly counsel, it can be nearly impossible to distinguish lies from the truth.
In Hebrews 10:25, the Bible urges us “to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day (Jesus returns) drawing near.” Finding a community of believers could be your next step. Join a home group, begin volunteering or ask an older, wiser believer to mentor you.
