Read: Genesis 48:12-21
God is in the business of making the lowest people on Earth the apple of His eye. A great way to go up is to lower yourself in humility.
Jacob promises more blessings to Joseph’s younger son than to the firstborn. In Joseph's culture, such an act was unheard of. Joseph attempts to offer his father correction. Jacob’s response is beautiful.
“I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations” Genesis 48:19 (ESV).
God chose to rescue Joseph from the pit. God chose to bless Joseph’s youngest son more than his oldest. God loves to lift the humbled to greater things. In contrast He has no problem bringing down the proud. Just watch the news.
Do you feel alone, unwanted, purposeless, or forgotten? Maybe you can’t seem to do anything right. Maybe you feel like the friend no one ever calls.
Embrace the truth that God chooses to exalt the humble in His time. You are deeply loved and courageously fought for.
