Read: Proverbs 27:15-16 & Proverbs 22:3 & Proverbs 12:4
Proverbs 27:15-16 says, “A quarrelsome wife is like the dripping of a leaky roof in a rainstorm; restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.” Have you been that person — uncontrollable, picking a fight out of insecurity or selfishness, knowing you are creating a situation that will only drive the one you love away?
If you’re acting like the person in Proverbs 27:15-16, why? Is there spiritual inequality or sexual sin in the dating relationship? Is one of you letting pride and self reliance get in the way of maturing and accepting spiritual responsibility? Proverbs 22:3 says, “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” If you continue ignoring a bad situation, the penalty may not only be a broken heart for you. Continued folly could mean deep and lasting wounds.
Do not ignore the problems in your dating relationship. Talk to each other. If you are the one sinning, repent and change. If the problem is spiritual inequality or if you’re just not on the same page, get out. You can pray for him, but you can’t change him. Only God can make lasting change in anyone.
