Get Me Out

Read: Psalm 105:12-45

When I was a teenager, my youth group traveled to some nearby caves and caverns. A group of us got lost in one of the caverns, and for a while, we didn’t know if we would ever find our way out. Eventually, after much perseverance, we emerged in the light.

Sometimes in life, we find ourselves in situations where we feel like we’re stuck in a cavern and we’re never going to get out. In Psalm 105, David reminds us how the children of Israel found themselves in a similar situation. They were under bondage and oppression by the Egyptians for hundreds of years. It appeared as if they were never going to be delivered. David goes on to explain that the same God who brought them into Egypt also brought them out. Not only did God deliver the Israelites from Egypt, He brought them out better than they went in (Psalm 105:12, 37).

God made a way for the Israelites and He wants to do the same for us. If today you find yourself in a seemingly insurmountable situation, remember this: He who brought you to it will see you through it. You will come out. And you will come out better than you went in.
