Read: 2 Corinthians 2:12-17
Christ has shown us His grace, sent us His Spirit, and challenged us to show His love to others. In this passage, Paul likens Christians to a fragrance, saying “we are the aroma of Christ.” “Fragrance” and “aroma” sound odd. But when Christ’s love for us spurs us to sincerely love those around us, it fills the air like the aroma of blueberry muffins in the oven.
How do we behave like the aroma of Christ and “spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere” when sharing the love of Christ can feel similar to pestering? We’re so afraid of bothering people we forget God uses us to spread the knowledge of Him, and that Christ’s love through us has the power to combat all of the bad stuff and lift people up.
I'm not bothering a person if I ask if there's anything I can do to make his day a little bit better. I'm not bothering someone if I ask if there's anything she would like me to pray for. I'm not bothering someone if I help without asking when I see he’s struggling. How will my coworkers or classmates know Christ has changed my life if I'm afraid to show them what’s different? Besides, who’s bothered by the smell of fresh blueberry muffins?
