Read: Psalm 35:17-28
In Psalm 35:17-28, David is appealing to God for help with an enemy. Who among us hasn’t been hurt by someone at school, at work or at home? Even Jesus understood what it was like to be hurt those you love. The son of God was beaten and hung on a cross by the same people He came to save.
If we put our faith in people, we will always be let down. People always fall short, but our Heavenly Father never does. He is perfect and loves us perfectly. Hebrews 13:6 tells us, “We can know with all confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
As Christians, we have been made new (Ephesians 4:22-23). This means our attitude to everything in life, including our attitude to those who hurt us, is being reshaped by the love of Jesus. We no longer seek revenge. Instead, we are to get rid of malice and forgive just as the Lord forgave us (Ephesians 4:31-32). God hears the righteous, and He will deliver them (Psalm 34:17-22).
In Psalm 35:28, David continues to praise God despite persecution from his enemies. He trusts the Lord to deliver him. We can do the same. What do you need to trust the Lord to deliver you from today?
