With the number of GPS-ready devices available, it’s almost impossible to get lost when making a trip. Those old enough to remember paper maps can recall how frustrating is it to think you’re close to your destination only to find you’re going in the opposite direction.
In Mark 12, we find two religious leaders headed in opposite directions. The Sadducee hoped to use his theological perspective to trip up Jesus. Instead of stumbling, Jesus corrects him before tearing into him with this cutting response: “You are badly mistaken!”
The scribe who showed up later, however, listened to Jesus and humbly accepted what He had to say. To his credit, Jesus answered with this response: “You are not far from the kingdom of God.”
While there will never be a spiritual GPS device, we can be sure that we’ll get to the Kingdom by following the directions in God’s word, the Bible. Make sure you’re on the right road today.
