Read: 2 Samuel 14:1-15:22, John 18:1-24, Psalm 119:97-112 & Proverbs 16:8-9
2 Samuel 14:14 says, “Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die.” In the Garden of Eden, God gave Adam and Eve one law, which they broke. This separated them and us from God. But 2 Samuel 14:14 goes on to say, “But that is not what God desires; rather, He devises ways so that a banished person does not remain banished from Him.”
What “way” is 2 Samuel foreshadowing? John 18:9 says, “This happened so that the words [Jesus] had spoken would be fulfilled: ‘I have not lost one of those You gave Me.’” Jesus’s payment for our sins is the way God reunites us with Himself.
God wants a relationship with you, so that He can guide you and bless you. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path,” and according to Proverbs 16:9, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
If you can’t remember a time when you realized you were separated from God and trusted Jesus for your salvation, do it now. Receive His forgiveness. Tell Him that you need Him, that you surrender your life to Him, and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. Then look to God’s Word to let Him light your path and guide your way.
