From talk shows to gossip columns; from tabloid magazines to undercover news stories; our society loves to air other people’s dirty laundry. We crave the stuff. We want to hear about the junk in other people’s lives. We want to know the dirt, the negative stuff about them. We have a proclivity towards negativity.
But there’s a major problem with all the negativity that you encounter. Once it comes into your life, it will soil everything you do. When you welcome in the negativity, it will stain your life. And that stain just doesn’t seem to want to come out. It will show up in everything you do. It will eek its way into nearly every aspect of your life.
Too many of us have the stain of negativity on our lives. We need to come clean. We need to wash the stain of negativity away, but we can’t do it alone. We need to look to Christ for help. Recognize that you can’t do it alone and turn to him. Look to what he has done for you. As Christ followers, we should be the most optimistic people in the world. There is nothing that can take away our victory in the end!
You will encounter negativity, there’s no doubt about that. But don’t focus on it. This week, stop focusing on the negative aspects of the world. Instead, look to Christ and see the positive. Be optimistic in your life and thank him for all that you have. Come clean by allowing Christ to wash the stain of negativity away.
