Run Your Race

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

What does your race look like? What are the goals you want for yourself and your family? Whatever your race, you must stay focused on YOUR race and yours only. A racehorse wears blinders to keep him focused on “his” lane and to keep him from being distracted by the other horses. In our life, we need to put on blinders. There are a lot of distractions in our world, like social media, that can easily pull us away from our goals and our path. Before we know it, we can be running someone else’s race and never know how we got off course.

Persevere in YOUR race. Be steadfast and determined to not veer to the left or the right, but to stay in your lane. You will notice other families doing other things, but stay in your lane and finish well. It is better to finish the race that has been set before you than to finish another person’s race. At the end of the day, be true to yourself and your family’s goals.

Prayer

Father, I am easily distracted in my life. I confess that once I start looking at other people's lives...I become covetous of what they have...and begin to emulate and desire their life...their path. God, I pray this morning, that You would make clear, Your direction for my life and for my families’ life. Once my path is clear, I pray for steadfastness and boldness to stay the course. Keep me focused!
