Have you ever tried to empty your mind of thoughts? In fact, it’s very difficult because we’re always thinking about something! When we want to “empty our mind,” it’s often because we’ve had enough of stressing, worrying, thinking about this, organizing that, etc. The problem is that nature hates the void. In other words, your brain always wants to be “filled” with something ... the question is, what should it be filled with?
The Bible gives us clear instruction about this when it says, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
Thus, to empty your mind of negative thoughts, or at least thoughts that pull you down, you have to “feed” it with something else ... Thoughts that are in agreement with the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Joyce Meyer says it this way: “When you think about something good, there is no room for wrong thoughts to get into your mind.”
So focus your thoughts and mind on God’s promises and His will for your life. May your ear be attentive to His voice, ready to receive His Word, as each morning begins.
Feed your brain in this way, by saying: “Yes, all things are possible with Christ! Today will be a victorious day! Again today, God is for me and with me!” (see the Bible, 2 Chronicles 32:8, Psalm 46:11)
Pray this prayer right now:“Lord, sometimes I have these negative thoughts that make me suffer, that create anxiety within me...Help me to overcome them and feed my mind with Your thoughts, with Your Word. May my thoughts be pure and pleasing to You! In Jesus’s name, amen.”
Thanks for existing!
