The Basics with Beth

Description
If we're running from the Lord, hiding in guilt, or pretending to be someone we're not—God asks us the same question He asked Adam: "Where are you?"

"Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, 'Where are you?'" Genesis 3:9, NKJV

"Where are you?" When the Lord asked Adam this question, God already knew the answer, right? If God already knew where Adam was, why did He ask him the question? Because God wanted Adam to locate himself.

Adam had just sinned—in a big way. Adam had just committed the "fall of mankind"—and totally disobeyed what the Lord had commanded. As a result, his guilt caused him to hide himself from the Lord. God knew that. Still, the Lord asked him, "Where are you?"

Sometimes, the Lord asks us that same question: "Where are you?" If we are running from the Lord, hiding because of guilt, pretending to be someone we are not—God asks us the same question: Where are you?

So, today—where are you? Why not do a little analysis and be honest with the Lord. Where are you in your relationship with God? Where are you in being a legitimate Christian in your attitudes and behavior? Where are you in obedience to His Word? Where are you in resisting temptation and fighting the fight of faith? Where are you in your relationships with others? Where are you in owning your responsibilities? Where are you in being the man of God, or the woman of God, He's called you to be?

Once you locate yourself, if you need to make adjustments—do it! The Lord is merciful and gracious. Because of the blood of Jesus, we can run with boldness to His throne of grace to obtain mercy for our failings and grace to help us live a life pleasing to the Lord. When we locate ourselves and live honestly before the Lord, it's a day of great freedom!

Say It: “Father, I will be honest about where I am. I thank You for Your help in locating me. Today, I will run to Your throne of grace to obtain mercy and grace. From this day forward, I choose to live the life You've called me to live. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
