For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” (Isaiah 41:13 ESV)
We went for a walk the other day with our grandson, Kaden and the bike path led to a busy road for a brief section. Of course, being a boy, this was the exact point that he decided to ‘break free’ and run ahead of the group.
My heart stopped. Did he not sense the danger of the cars whizzing by?
His dad calmly scooped him up and flung him over his shoulder with Kaden squirming, kicking and screaming to be let go.
As I watched the scene unfold, it was as if the Lord was cupping my chin and turning me to take a good look. This was so often how I reacted when walking with Him. I would see something curious and suddenly let go of His hand and run. He – as the Loving Father that He is – would only let me get so far before He would scoop me up and bring me back to His side.
Oh how He loves us!
Father, we thank You that You are an attentive and loving Dad. Thank You for all the times that You have come to our rescue, pulling us out of situations that we have gotten ourselves into. Please help us to continue to grasp tightly to Your hand as we walk with You today.
