The Widow's Coins
Description
The widow that Jesus commented on didn’t focus on how much she had, she just made sure that all she had was given to God. Are you all in?
Luke 21:1-4 As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
It seems to be popular today to say I’m going “all in.” Not sure if that’s a copyrighted phrase or just one grown from the seeds of one-too-many poker games, but it definitely paints a picture we can all relate to. When we’re all in we don’t hold anything back. When we’re all in we are totally committed. When we’re all in we give it all we have. When we’re all in we put in all we have to live on.
The lady who Jesus commented on was all in for God. She didn’t focus on how much she had, she just made sure that all she had was given to God.
