Listening to the Father's Heart - September 16

Son, I am a Father who is patient and long-suffering. However, I am also a Father who requires obedience. Once a consistent pattern of disobedience takes root, I must address it as a good father always must. This never changes my love, but it does change our relationship and may change your destiny. When my son Saul was king, he became more fearful of the people than desiring to please me. I ultimately withdrew my blessing and removed him from his position. When one of my leaders becomes corrupt, I will raise up another as I did with David to replace Saul. But let Saul's life be a warning that beginning well does not mean you will always end well. Stay close to me son, to the very end, to insure our relationship remains strong and I will be able to bless your life. Just because someone begins well does not mean they will end well. Stay close to me son so you will end well.

You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, He would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after His own heart and appointed him leader of His people, because you have not kept the Lord's command. 1 Samuel 13:13,14
