Son, I want you to know I am with you in your sorrow and grief. I understand sorrow. Sometimes it can be so heavy that you feel death itself upon your doorstep. My Son felt that in Gethsemane. He knew such anguish. "He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief" (Isa 53:3). I am with you in those lonely nights and in your times of remembrance of better days, just as I was with my Son when I strengthened him (Lk 22:43). "My soul melts from heaviness; strengthen me according to Your word” (Ps 119:28). Immerse yourself in my gift of scripture; it will be your soul’s strength and comfort (Ps 119:16). Son, the place of your greatest pain often becomes the place of your greatest triumph. Such was Gethsemane for my son. Man was redeemed shortly after his time in Gethsemane. And a short time later there was a resurrection. After death there is resurrection, my son. Let this truth be your hope and encouragement. This Valley of Baca will become a place of streams for you, a place of refreshing autumn rains, both for you and for others (Ps 84:6).
Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” Matthew 26:38
Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4
