Son, I want you to understand that shame is one of the key tools the enemy of your soul uses to keep you in a place of defeat. Shame wants you to believe that you are a failure because you failed. In contrast, guilt is my Holy Spirit telling you that you have done something wrong. Yes, you may have failed, but YOU are not a failure. Know that I love you in all circumstances. Nothing changes my love for you. The enemy wants you to think that your mistakes change my view of you. Son, know that I am always thinking of what you are becoming, not what you have not become. I want you to filter what comes into your mind. Remember what my son James said? "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).
I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you. 1 Corinthians 4:14
