Listening to the Father's Heart - April 19

Son, I want you to imagine you are running a race. And now, notice that you have 100 pounds of brick tied to your back. Difficult, huh?! You would run out of steam before you knew it. You might lose your balance because of the weight and cause injury to yourself and others. You would certainly finish last in the race and fail to fulfill your goal of winning. Understand son, that sin is like that. It weighs you down. It hampers you from achieving all I designed you for in this life. Sin will not change my love for you, but it will separate us. A splinter is a very small thing. However, if not removed from your foot, it can literally cripple you. Do not let small sins grow into big sins that can destroy all that I have planned for you.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.  Hebrews 12:1

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 1 Corinthians 9:24

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:6-8
