Part of God's future is the reality that Christ shall reign as King over the earth, and we shall reign with him. Not only are we to be taken in the rapture, but we are also rewarded, and then we shall reign with him who redeemed us. Those who reign with Christ are those who have been purchased from all of humanity by the blood of Christ.
And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy you are to take the scroll, and to break its seals; for you were slain, and purchased for God with your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. "And you have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth," (Rev 5:9-10).
We not only have a present salvation and a present sanctification through the Holy Spirit, but we have a future destination in the heavens and a reign upon this earth. All of this is brought to us through Christ. He has inherited the reign over the universe from God the Father, and he will share that inheritance with us.
